Peter Woods performs on a big stage

2024 5-star QB chooses SEC program over Tigers

Dabo Swinney and the Tigers are getting a game wrecker in their 2023 recruiting class, with 5-star defensive lineman Peter Woods joining the program.

Currently, 247Sports ranks Woods as the No.33 player in the 2023 class, ranking as the No.3 defensive lineman in the country. This past week Woods participated in the Under Armour All-America Game, which included a week of practices and drills before the Tuesday night game.

According to 247Sports, Woods was one of the five top performers on defense throughout the week, showing everyone why he is such a highly touted prospect. Here is what 247Sports had to say about Woods.

– Peter Woods, DL, Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson, Clemson signee: Woods has been one of the more discussed seniors behind the scenes at 247Sports over the past few months. There’s a lot to like about the sparkplug in the middle, but at the end of the day he doesn’t have the desired length in the arms. And while that short reach will likely dictate where Woods falls in the final rankings, there’s no question that he’s going to be a productive player for Dabo Swinney and the Tigers. On Tuesday, Woods had his way in the trenches as he racked up two tackles for loss and a sack. Woods also tipped a pass at the line of scrimmage that ended up being intercepted by one of his teammates in the secondary. Overall, it was another strong outing for Woods, who also dominated last month’s Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game.

Swinney and the Tigers will be losing some key pieces on the defensive line heading into next season, possibly allowing Woods to be an immediate impact player for the team. Seeing him perform among the best of the best in his age group is a great sign.

Clemson fans will welcome Woods happily with open arms.
