QB Skylar Thompson to start

The Miami Dolphins have a starting quarterback.

When the Dolphins (9-8) visit the Buffalo Bills (13-3) for their Wild-Card clash on Sunday, it will be Skylar Thompson under center.

Miami head coach Mike McDaniel made that announcement on via video conference on Friday.

Thompson was expected to be the starter for most of the week, but McDaniel left a grey area when speaking earlier this week.

The coach announced on Wednesday that No. 1 QB Tua Tagovailoa would not play due to his ongoing concussion issues.

Primary backup Teddy Bridgewater has also dealt with knee and finger injuries.

McDaniel said Bridgewater would attempt to be ready by Sunday, but the announcement Friday included Bridgewater being named Thompson’s backup due to his injuries.

Thompson started against the New York Jets in Week 18 and was 20-for-31 passing for 152 yards. He did not have a touchdown or interception but Thompson did record his first-career win.
