Aggies sign the ninth most blue chip recruits in 2023

5-star 2023 EDGE Chandavian Bradley has Aggies in “final 3”

Texas A&M’s historic 2022 recruiting class will continue to be discussed for years, although the Aggies 15th ranked 2023 class may go down as one of the most productive when it’s all said and done. Head coach Jimbo Fisher chose the quality over quantity route in 2023, signing one 5-Star and eleven 4-Star prospects, many of whom will have the potential to contribute on Saturdays right away.

On Tuesday, On3 writer Joe Spears ranked the Top 10 2023 classes by the percentage of blue-chip players in the class. To no surprise, the Aggies were ranked 9th at 63% of committed blue-chip prospects, edging out Miami, Oregon, and Penn State at 60%.

As a reminder, Texas A&M signed 19 recruits, with Defensive tackle David Hicks Jr. as the lone 5-Star, followed by running back Reuben Owens, who, according to On3, is a high 4-Star, fringe 5-Star rated recruit. Staying true to their recruiting roots in the state of Texas, Spears said it best:

The Aggies weren’t going to repeat the level of success they had the year before but Jimbo recruited in-state heavily landing several of Texas’ top recruits. Of the Aggies’ 12 blue-chip signees, eight hail from Texas.

Time will obviously tell how good the 2023 class will be during their time in College Station, but with an experienced team coming back next season with plenty of snaps to go around on offense and defense, it’s about to be one heck of a ride.
