Post-Super Bowl projections give Cardinals stud DT

Post-Super Bowl projections give Cardinals stud DT

The 2022 NFL season is officially over with the Kansas City Chiefs winning the Super Bowl. With the season over, we have a new mock draft from Draft Wire managing editor Luke Easterling.

The Arizona Cardinals have the third overall pick and should be able to have their choice of the top non-quarterbacks in the draft.

In these new projections, it is a player commonly mocked to them.

They land Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter.

The Chicago Bears select Alabama pass rusher Will Anderson first overall and the Houston Texans follow with Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.

As of now, it appears the Cardinals would take either Anderson or Carter and it would be great if they could choose between the two.

Carter is the No. 1 player in the draft, according to NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah.

With J.J. Watt retiring and Zach Allen hitting free agency, the Cardinals could certainly use a stud interior defender. The only first-round defensive tackle the Cardinals have selected since coming to Arizona that lived up to the hype was Eric Swann, and he was drafted forever ago.

It would be good to see the Cardinals not fail with a first-round defensive tackle. Their last attempt at it was in 2016 when they took Robert Nkemdiche 29th overall.

They could have had Chris Jones, who wrecks opposing offenses for the world-champion Chiefs.

Adding Carter would not be a surprise but we will see what happens with draft stock with the NFL combine and then pro days and visits.
