Sean McDermott to be inducted into the William & Mary Athletics Hall of Fame


He left a lasting legacy at William & Mary as during his junior season, the team advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals and set a then-program record with 10 wins. In McDermott’s senior season, he was named team captain and third-team all-conference. You can read more about his accomplishments with the program here.

McDermott quickly joined the NFL coaching ranks after his collegiate playing career. He had various assistant coaching and coordinator positions with the Eagles (2001-2010) and Panthers (2011-2016) before finally getting a chance to be an NFL head coach with the Buffalo Bills in 2017.

Since becoming the head coach in Buffalo, McDermott has led the franchise to four postseason berths in six seasons and three consecutive AFC East titles (2020-2022). He was been a finalist for AP Coach of the Year three times with the Bills.
