The Tennessee Titans dropped a bombshell on the NFL world after it was announced that they had agreed to terms with superstar defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons on a contract extension.
ESPN’s Turron Davenport had the scoop first and he reported that the deal is for four years and has $66 million guaranteed. Jordan Schultz of theScore reports the deal is worth $23.5 million per, or a total of $94 million.
Simmons, who is now the second-highest paid interior defensive lineman in the NFL behind Aaron Donald, has been an Pro Bowler in each of the last two seasons and is arguably the most talented defender in franchise history.
Truthfully, after last year’s unexpected disaster with A.J. Brown, this brings a massive sigh of relief, even though realistically you knew there was very little chance of Tennessee letting Simmons go.
As you would imagine, this agreement was unanimously met with excitement from fans, as the Titans get to keep No. 98 in Tennessee for at least a few more years. Here’s how fans and media reacted.
Titans Nation, thank you for the last 4 years! I am so grateful for you guys…..

It appears that Ran Carthon is indeed better at not trading away our best players than the #Titans last GM was! Welcome back Big Jeff! https://t.co/WqWoPZqIQB
