We are now hours away from the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
We’ve done one simulated mock draft before, and now that it’s draft day, we are going to do one more. Pro Football Network has an updated draft board and we cycled through all seven rounds to see where the Wolverine football players ended up going.
In real life, the maize and blue have a couple of players who could go in the first round: DJ Turner and Mazi Smith. But in this sim. there weren’t any Michigan players to go in round one.
There will be several Wolverines to go in the middle rounds or late rounds and it will be intriguing to see where they all end up.
Without further ado, here is where all the Michigan football players ended up going during our simualted mock draft.
1
DJ Turner — Round two, pick No. 34, Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals need a ton of help and the secondary is one big need. DJ Turner slides into the second round in this simulated mock draft and he would be fighting for a starting spot on day one.
As you might expect from a Feldman Freak with a documented 4.28 40-yard dash and an absurd reported 6.29 three-cone, athleticism is a strong point on Turner’s scouting report. At 6’0″, 181 pounds, with above-average proportional length, Turner brings a very appealing brand of mobility to the fold.
On the boundary, Turner is visibly explosive. He can easily turn and run with receivers, accelerating upfield quickly, and shows excellent accelerative capacity when flipping upfield in press bail. The Michigan CB gears up very quickly out of transitions, and quickly reaches his top speed. Additionally, Turner flashes superb initial burst when closing downhill on screens, and he accelerates very quickly when he’s able to open up his strides.

Mazi Smith — Round two, pick No. 46, New England Patriots
