Everything Bo Nix said after the spring game

Leading up to this year’s spring game, the expectation was that after the first half, Bo Nix’s day would be done. But as the game went deeper into the fourth quarter, Nix was still at the helm for this year’s green team, scoring the game-sealing touchdown with just a minute left in the game.

After all four quarters finished, Nix had completed 19 of 40 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown.

When meeting with media members after the game, Nix spoke about the opportunity to talk to and learn from Oregon legend Marcus Mariota, who was an honorary coach, and what it was like to see his adopted brother Tez Johnson have such a breakout.

Question: What has it been like to watch Tez Johnson grow and develop this spring?

Nix: “It’s been really awesome. You know, he just provides a unique spark on offense. We don’t really have a guy like that who’s just kind of a little scat guy. He does a good job when he gets the ball. A lot of those receivers, they do really good in competitive environments. And that’s what you saw today. You know, each and every one of them kind of made a play or two of their own, but, yeah, I thought Tez made a really good play today.”

Last season

Question: Was the way things played out down the stretch last season part of why you wanted to return to Eugene for another year in 2023?

Nix: “I just felt like last year, we could’ve finished at times better and we know that’s something going in this year that we need to do. We were in a great spot last year and then didn’t finish. So this year our goal is to go be the best that we can be. One of my personal goals is to win a championship. It’s something that last year we weren’t able to do and that does bother me because I feel like we were in a position to do that last year.”
