Colts’ Julius Brents practiced for first time since injuring quad

Indianapolis Colts rookie cornerback Julius Brents practiced Thursday for the first time since initially injury his quad during the Week 7 game against the Cleveland Browns.

This certainly is a positive sign for his chances to play in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Colts held him out as a precaution.

Brents was listed as a limited participant during Thursday’s practice so he’s not participating in a full capacity just yet. And while the Colts will want to be sure he’s fully healthy in order to avoid a setback, they also know the final five games of the season are crucial for the playoff push.

The Colts have been getting by with fellow rookie Jaylon Jones, who has been enjoying a strong campaign, but bringing Brents back into the mix would mean great things for a thin cornerback room.

We’ll see what the Friday injury report has in store for Brents, but the rookie seems to be trending in the right direction to return sometime soon.
