The team has completed three days of interviews, with one more sit-down expected before Jerry Jones is scheduled to leave for Las Vegas to attend NFL Honors on Thursday night. Jets safeties coach Marquand Manuel is scheduled to meet with the front office on Thursday.

The 61-year-old Ryan had a mediocre record as head coach for the Bills and Jets, but he won a Super Bowl as one of the mastermind assistants behind the famed 2000 Ravens defense. He’s been away from the sidelines since 2016, but is now officially under consideration to be Dallas’s new defensive coordinator.

Former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi has learned that the Joneses were attempting to set up an interview with the former Giants defensive coordinator. “I think they’ve been on the phone with his agent and talking about bringing him in,” Lombardi said. “Whether they do or not, I don’t know.”

The Cowboys declined a request from the Washington Commanders to speak with tight ends coach Lunda Wells about being their new offensive line coach. Assistants cannot be kept from interviewing with other clubs about coordinator positions, but assistant-to-assistant moves are considered lateral and can be blocked by the employer team.
