ESPN host has perfect team to trade up for Drake Maye

Drake Maye reveals bowl game plans

If you turn your TV to ESPN on 8 a.m. ET during weekdays, you’ll likely see Mike Greenberg, better known as “Greeny” or former co-host of popular radio show Mike & Mike.

Greenberg is the host of Get Up, a show in which he and several other sports personalities talk about the hottest topics in sports. Greeny and his crew could be talking about Caitlin Clark breaking the NCAA Women’s Basketball all-time scoring record one moment, then highlight how Patrick Mahomes’ latest Super Bowl title moves him closer to Tom Brady’s GOAT status.

On Wednesday morning’s edition of Get Up, Greeny took a deep dive into the current NFL offseason, including moves teams should make ahead of April’s NFL Draft.

One of those moves he suggested was the New York Giants, quarterbacked by former Duke standout Daniel, acquiring the New England Patriots’ third-overall pick and drafting UNC star quarterback Drake Maye.

It’s easy to see why the G-Men would want to move up and select Maye. The Huntersville, NC native played into the Heisman Trophy conversation this past year – throwing for 3,608 yards and 24 touchdowns, while adding 449 rushing yards and a career-best nine ground scores. Maye’s offensive playmaking abilities, coupled with a breakout season from Omarion Hampton, had the Tar Heels ranked at 10th in the AP Poll at one point.

Jones suffered through his worst season since 2020, throwing two touchdowns to just six interceptions, but his season was cut short due to an ACL tear. He’s displayed some impressive moments at times, but hasn’t played at the level of a former sixth overall pick.

I’m not saying Maye is better than Jones, but Maye’s recent track record of success has to be encouraging for Giants head coach Brian Daboll.
