News and notes from the Ducks’ second spring practice

Oregon safety, Evan Williams, right, blocks wide receiver Kyler Kasper during practice with the Ducks Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023 in Eugene.

A new drill was introduced on Saturday that we haven’t seen before, which Dan Lanning called out as “two-man tackle drill.” Essentially, you had all of the players on the roster – from special teams to defensive linemen – taking turns either running the ball, blocking, or trying to tackle the ball carrier.

It’s hard to say that you can glean a lot of information from this drill, but it definitely was entertaining to watch someone like Grant Meadors tackle Brock Harris, while Jericho Johnson attempts to juke someone like Kanen Rossi.

You’ve got to love spring football.
