Taking care of in-house Eagles part of the plan

ORLANDO, Fla. – It didn’t take long for the Eagles to get right back to work following the conclusion of their 2023 season. They put together a blueprint, stepped back and assessed what they expected to be the market in free agency, dug in for the 2024 NFL Draft, and went after it.

And in the process of adding, to this point, 13 new players to the roster, they also addressed some in-house pieces, and very valuable ones at that.

They changed coordinators on offense and defense, as well as many position coaches. They prepared for the exit of some key players, including two forever-Eagles to retirement. They identified some Eagles for contract extensions.

BG gets to play in his 15th season and he’s going to be a great asset for us in 2024.”

Extending the contract of K Jake Elliott

“Incredibly proud of Jake and his impact on the Eagles. Historically, he has a chance to be one of the best kickers in the history of the franchise. He’s a team captain and one of the best people. It starts with him. He has been so good, has worked so hard, and he deserves his contract.”

“Andy Reid told me long ago that when you have your special teams in a good place you sleep well at night and that’s how I feel about our operation. It starts with Rick snapping the football and making plays on teams and he’s outstanding. Hard worker, adaptable, and just keeps doing his job at a very high level.”

“He came in last season and played to his potential. He was picked in the sixth round originally (2020 by the New York Jets), he was a Ray Guy Award winner (in 2018) in college…
