Ranking all 32 teams in active cap spending in 2024

Browns

The Cleveland Browns have been among the top spenders in the NFL over the past two seasons. Will things change in 2024 or will they continue to push their chips all into the center of the table?

Active cap spending is different from cap space. Active cap spending takes into consideration all of the money already fronted to players when salaries are converted to bonuses as well. The total number of bonuses, salaries, dead money, and other incentives is how the figure for active cap spending is calculated.

The Browns have committed wizardry on their books to give themselves a salary cap over the past few seasons to spend. How do they do that?

But actively spending upfront. This takes an owner who is willing to front that money when converting those salaries to bonuses, but thus far Jimmy Haslam has obliged.

Here are all 32 teams (including the Browns) ranked by their active cap spending this upcoming season.
