Stefon Diggs to the Texans is a calculated risk that might work well

So… the “bad” news is that the Texans might not be getting the field-tilting version of Stefon Diggs that existed 2-3 years ago.

The good news is that he doesn’t need to be that to make Houston’s passing game better. As is the case with any player, the coaches need to understand what he does well, and maximize that. And in the context of this passing game, there is an easy fit.

Nico Collins has already proven himself as the WR1, Tank Dell is an explosive play waiting to happen when he’s healthy, Robert Woods has been that possession receiver, and Dalton Schultz is an estimable red zone target with big-play acumen from time to time.

As an adjacent intermediate target winning with designed openings (which offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik knows all about drawing up), Diggs could well be the missing piece. Don’t be disappointed that he’s not a superstar anymore; focus on what he can bring to your offense in the regular season and beyond.

That’s exactly what the Texans have done.
