New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe is last in a statistic that may make Patriots fans cringe.
For context, New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones ranked last out of all quarterbacks on first down efficiency. He converted only 30 percent of his attempts, per NFL analyst Warren Sharp.
Sharp’s calculations are ranked using several different variables and metrics on first down. Jones ranked number 47 out of 48 quarterbacks with the removal of attempts under pressure. The only worse quarterback?
Bailey Zappe.
This certainly does not paint the Western Kentucky product in a positive light as it relates to his play. He went 2-4 as a starter for New England, and it became clear the Patriots needed a revamp at the quarterback position.
this is wild
the easiest time to pass the ball is on 1st down
Daniel Jones ranked #48 of 48 QBs on 1st down efficiency (min 100 att in 2023)
just 30% of att were successful
NFL avg is 46%
a lot of it was sacks… ok…
BUT EVEN IF YOU REMOVE SACKS
he ranked #47 of 48 QBs…
