Where Nebraska Football landed in Big Ten Power Rankings

The 2024 college football season will be one of change for the Big Ten Conference. The league will be expanding to 18 teams with the additions of Oregon, USC, Washington, and UCLA.

This is the first time the conference has expanded since the additions of Maryland and Rutgers in 2014. Nebraska joined the Big Ten in 2011 after departing the Big 12 with Colorado (Pac-12 and is now back in the Big 12).

Since joining the Big Ten Conference in 2011, Nebraska football has not seen the same level success in the league as they once had in the Big 12. The Huskers appeared in that leagues championship game six times (1996, 1997, 1999, 2006, 2009, 2010) over 15 years, winning twice (1997 & 1999).

Nebraska has only appeared in the Big Ten title game once, back in 2012 which led to a 70-31 loss to Wisconsin. That defeat was the last time that the Huskers played for a conference championship.

Jesse Simonton with On3 has released his Post-Spring/Portal Power Rankings and the Cornhuskers received high marks. Even coming off a 5-7 season it’s clear that the national media believes that Matt Rhule has the program trending in the right direction.
