The Bears were one of the big winners of the 2024 NFL draft. Landing a generation QB talent such as Williams already raises the ceiling for the franchise, and the addition of Odunze creates a three-headed monster at the wide receiver position along with DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. Anyone who has interest in the Bears was excited to land the lethal offensive duo; perhaps none more so that Eberflus and Warren, who both were quick to tell their first round picks their visions for them on their draft day calls.
Eberflus, who has recently won over the fanbase with his determination to take part in every step of the draft process, laid the gravity of Chicago selecting Williams in as simple of terms as possible: “This day is gonna go down as an iconic day in Bears history, my friend.”
CEO Kevin Warren spoke plainly on what his aspirations are for the Chicago rookie, stating “we’re gonna win a lot of championships together.”
The selection of Odunze at number nine had the Bears’ war room bouncing off the walls with excitement, with Eberflus grinning ear to ear as he spoke with the dynamic wideout. The Bears offense became a lot more dangerous with Williams and Odunze, and Eberflus spoke aloud what most fans were thinking on draft night: “It’s going to be hard to cover, I know that.”
Whether the Bears will be a championship-caliber team on the field this season remains to be seen, but the front office is unified in their belief that Williams and Odunze are a key part of the Super Bowl-winning formula.
