Our countdown to the start of the New Orleans Saints’ 2024 season continues with Day 48. Let’s take a look at every single player to every take a snap in the corresponding jersey number.
When we look at jersey No. 48 for the Saints only a couple of players come to mind. The longest-tenured Saint to wear this number still plays with the team currently. That player is long-time special teams ace J.T. Gray. Gray, a Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro who has been one of the key pieces in the team’s most recent stretch of playoff seasons. His excellence as the teams special teams gunner has taken his team to the top of the league in average yards per return while also not giving up a return touchdown since 2019. A huge feat for Gray and his unit.
The other player we like to remember that put on those same digits is former safety Vonn Bell. Bell was another key piece to the teams success since he entered the league in 2016. Starting opposite star safety Marcus Williams, the two together became one of the leagues most exciting young duos at the time. While with the Saints, Bell totaled over 80+ tackles a season during his four years with the team. Bell also combined for 8 sacks, 7 forced fumbles and 14 interceptions during that span.
