Carolina Panthers’ fans gave out a collective gasp when rookie wide receiver Xavier Legette went down with a lower leg injury at Panthers training camp. On Sunday, head coach David Canales confirmed that Legette’s MRI cleared him of a fracture.
The Panthers take on the New England Patriots on Thursday in the team’s first preseason game. Despite avoiding a broken foot, it is unlikely that Legette will play.
Carolina drafted the local hero in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft. Legette played his college football at the University of South Carolina and was born and raised in tiny Mullins, South Carolina.

Legette is listed as one of the starting wide receivers along with Diontae Johnson. Canales is known as a quarterback guru and after rebuilding the wide receiver depth chart with these two receivers along with Adam Thielen, quarterback Bryce Young should see a significant amount of improvement in 2024.
