The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered their first loss of the 2024 preseason Saturday night, falling to the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-7 on the road.
After a scoreless first quarter for both teams, the Bucs surrendered a long touchdown drive to the Jags, but followed it up with one of their own that finished with a touchdown pass from Kyle Trask to Cody Thompson to tie the game.
That was the last time the Bucs would find the scoreboard, though, as the offense struggled with inconsistency and penalties throughout the rest of the game. The defense gave up far too many big plays, and the kicking game had problems for the second week in a row.
One of the few bright spots for Tampa Bay was their pass rush, which logged five sacks against the Jacksonville offense. Three of those sacks came from outside linebacker Jose Ramirez, a late-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft who is making a strong push for a roster spot this year.
The Bucs finish up their 2024 preseason slate with their only home exhibition game this year, as the host the Miami Dolphins at Raymond James Stadium on Friday night.
