Cardinals Sign Memphis Showboats TE Sage Surratt

Former DC Defenders QB Cardale Jones Reportedly Working Out For the Raiders

Spring football has seen some incredibly talented tight ends over the years. Sage Surratt is no exception, most recently spending time in the UFL with the Memphis Showboats. After a workout with the Arizona Cardinals yesterday, Surratt has officially signed a contract with the team – making the jump back to the NFL.

Sage made his way to the USFL in 2022, signing with the Birmingham Stallions. He wasn’t utilized much that year, but won the Championship – and earned an NFL stint with the Los Angeles Chargers that preseason.

From there, he returned to the USFL, but made the jump to the New Orleans Breakers. Surratt was one of the top tight ends in the league that year, with 552 yards and a touchdown.

In the UFL, Surratt was brought over to the Memphis Showboats with John DeFilippo in the USFL-XFL merger process. Sage didn’t see as much production this year, but the quarterback carousel didn’t help matters much. Surratt finished the season with 269 yards and two scores.

The offense as a whole wasn’t too bright in Memphis this year, but Sage had a solid year despite the struggles. He’s consistently proven himself as a valuable target for any spring offense, and will now hope to prove the same to the Cardinals with little left of the preseason.
