The Oregon Ducks didn’t suit up for a game during Week 4 of the college football season, getting a rare September bye week ahead of their Big Ten schedule kicking off next week against the UCLA Bruins.
So while Oregon coaches got out on the recruiting trail, and players got out of town for the weekend, I relished the opportunity to sit back and do something different on Saturday — watch football without working.
That didn’t last long, though. After taking in all of the action, I kept having overall takeaways pop into my head, and big-picture opinions on things outside of specifically Duck football. While most of these things are tangentially related to Oregon, for the most part, they have to do with overall College Football Playoff races, Big Ten standings, and the state of the sport in general.
