Sometimes, the best thing to do is to live to fight another day. Los Angeles would obviously love to win this game against a division rival and AFC contender. But the Chargers also have the bye week looming after this with a chance to get healthy and go on a run from Week 6 on.
Knowing that, Los Angeles should be cautious with their players already on the injury report. Tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt seem doubtful for Sunday’s game. Justin Herbert is pushing to play, but any gameplan with him involved should rely on getting the ball out quickly. Joey Bosa will likely be limited if he plays. Derwin James is suspended.
The franchise brought in Jim Harbaugh to make games like these less important, not more. The Chargers have bigger aspirations than beating the Chiefs in SoFi Stadium for a regular season game. Don’t make a bad problem worse by overextending LA’s stars on Sunday.
