Darius Robinson Activated To Roster From Injured Reserve

Darius Robinson is closer to making his rookie debut.

The first-round defensive lineman, who has been out since before the season with a calf injury, has been activated to the roster from Injured Reserve. The move was made Monday, and the team already had an open roster spot after placing linebacker Dennis Gardeck on IR on Friday.

Robinson had to be put on the roster by Wednesday or he would have had to stay on IR for the balance of the season.

Whether or not Robinson would be ready to play Sunday against the Bears remains undetermined. While Robinson has had a three-week practice window, he has yet to practice after an initial setback and the death of his mother.

The Cardinals can use him. Justin Jones and Bilal Nichols are on IR, Roy Lopez missed the game against the Dolphins with an ankle injury, and Naquan Jones suffered a thigh injury in Miami.

“I know this isn’t how (Darius) wanted to start his rookie season,” defensive coordinator Nick Rallis said. “I just told him, ‘Just focus on one day at a time and not the long-term of what you wanted for goals at this point. I know you’re going to be a great player.'”

The Cardinals released safety Jason Taylor II and cornerback Keion Crossen on Tuesday.
