Miami didn’t have much trouble scoring in Sunday’s 30-27 loss. In seven full drives, the Dolphins scored three touchdowns and two field goals; two more were one-play drives to end each half.

The Dolphins offense didn’t cost the team the game, and it all started with Tagovailoa. The former Alabama quarterback threw the ball 28 times, completing 25 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns.

Tagovailoa moved the ball with relative ease, and Miami also had success on the ground. Running backs De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert each averaged more than five yards per carry; Achane ran 12 times for 63 yards and a touchdown, and Mostert rushed 10 times for 56 yards.

Tagovailoa didn’t turn the ball over, but Mostert had a fumble in the beginning of the third quarter that led to a Buffalo touchdown. Outside of that start to the second half, Miami had two touchdowns and a field goal on its next three drives.

The Dolphins’ failed lateral attempt on the last play of the game left Miami three points shy of the Bills’ total.
