The special teams have been outstanding this season and, for the most part, were good again on Sunday. First, the bad. The Steelers went for a fake punt and would’ve been successful had they caught the ball. Washington was fooled. The Commanders do not get credit for that stop. There’s also wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus muffing two punts, including losing one in the red zone and leading to a Pittsburgh touchdown. These are enough to fail Washington. However, there were good things, too.

Kicker Zane Gonzalez was perfect in relief of Austin Seibert. Punter Tress Way had his busiest day of the season, drilling a 74-yard punt, landing two inside the 20, and having one touchback. Way averaged. Way punted six times, averaging 55 yards per punt. Running back Austin Ekeler was outstanding in returning kicks. Ekeler averaged 29.5 yards per return and repeatedly gave Washington solid field position.
