Colts WR Josh Down ‘week to week’ with injury; status for Week 13 in jeopardy

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs is considered “week to week,” according to Ian Rapoport with a shoulder injury.

Rapoport added that Downs is a “long-shot” to play this coming Sunday against the New England Patriots. However, the belief is that Downs did not suffer a major injury.

Downs sustained the injury in the Colts’ Week 12 loss to the Detroit Lions.

In the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, Downs got the ball on a designed touch behind the line of scrimmage. As Anthony Richardson tossed the ball to Downs as he streaked across the formation from left to right, Downs turned up field and as he was tackled from behind, it appeared that he went shoulder first into the ground.

Downs would exit the game and walked off under his own power. He did, however, return to the field on the following possession.

Throughout the season, Downs has been the Colts most reliable pass catching option, often a go-to target and one of the most productive slot receivers in all of football.

On the year, Downs has caught 72 percent of his 74 targets for 594 yards with four touchdowns.

When Downs was out during the Colts’ first two games of the season with an ankle injury, we saw a group effort when it came to lining up in the slot, but AD Mitchell figures to be an important part of the equation.
