Nebraska quarterback to enter transfer portal

A Nebraska quarterback is planning on entering the transfer portal. Freshman Daniel Kaelin looks to enter the portal following the 2024 regular season.

Kaelin, out of Bellevue, Nebraska, sat out the entire season and is one of six quarterbacks currently on the Huskers’ roster. Kaelin is also one of three freshmen at quarterback for the Huskers, alongside fellow Nebraska native Bode Soukup and opening-day starter Dylan Raiola.

Kaelin joined Nebraska as a three-star recruit, being the No. 6 overall prospect in the state. He initially committed to the Missouri Tigers before switching his commitment to the Cornhuskers.

As a senior at Bellevue West High School, Kaelin threw 187-of-319 for 2,225 yards and 17 touchdowns against only six interceptions. He also rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Thunderbirds to a 7-4 record and a state semifinal finish. The quarterback will have four years of eligibility remaining.

The news has garnered a strong reaction from Nebraska fans on social media. Scroll below and see for yourself.

Was always going to leave?
