Oklahoma transfer Makari Vickers commits to Colorado football

FAU transfer LB Jaylen Wester follows brother LaJohntay to Colorado

The Colorado Buffaloes got a steal in last year’s transfer portal class when former Oklahoma State Cowboys defensive back DJ McKinney joined the program. On Wednesday, the Buffs went back to the Sooner state and earned a commitment from Oklahoma Sooners transfer DB Makari Vickers, as reported by On3.

Vickers got a decent amount of playing time as a true freshman in 2023, appearing in eight games while compiling eight total tackles and one pass defended. This past season, he played in only four games and recorded one tackle.

Vickers is a three-star transfer, according to 247Sports. Coming out of Robert F Munroe Day School in Tallahassee, Florida, he was a four-star prospect and a top-125 overall player in the class of 2023. In high school, Vickers saw time at cornerback and safety while excelling at both spots.

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 187 pounds, Vickers has the size and speed to help a Colorado secondary that’s losing Shilo Sanders, Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig and Preston Hodge.
