The Carolina Panthers won’t have their first-round pick in uniform today.
Wideout Xavier Legette has already been ruled out of this week’s matchup with the Arizona Cardinals due to a hip injury. The rookie sustained the setback in this past Sunday’s 30-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, where he recorded two receptions for seven yards.
Legette was a non-participant in practice throughout the week. Carolina officially listed him out of the contest on Friday’s injury report.
Through 14 games, Legette has amassed 41 catches for 439 yards and a team-leading four receiving touchdown. Sunday will mark his first absence of the campaign.
Along with the hip injury, Legette is also dealing with a wrist issue. The 23-year-old told reporters back on Dec. 12 that he’s likely to undergo offseason surgery to repair torn ligaments in the wrist.
Carolina is, however, expected to have fellow rookie receiver Jalen Coker (quadriceps) and veteran David Moore (concussion) at their disposal against the visiting Cards. Both were considered questionable heading into the weekend.
