New York Giants activate LB Dyontae Johnson from injured reserve

Dyontae Johnson designated to return from IR

The New York Giants made several roster moves on Christmas Eve, which included the return of linebacker Dyontae Johnson from injured reserve (IR).

Johnson suffered an ankle injury in the Giants’ preseason opener against the Detroit Lions and remained on IR until Tuesday. He was previously designated to return on December 4.

The Giants signed Johnson as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Toledo following the 2023 NFL draft. He spent all of last season on their practice squad.

In a corresponding roster move, the Giants waived defensive lineman Casey Rogers.

Rogers was also signed as an undrafted rookie free agent back in April. He spent most of the season on the Giants’ practice squad, being elevated twice before signing to the active roster on December 7.

In two games this season, Rogers took 33 defensive snaps and nine special teams snaps but did not register any statistics.

Finally, the Giants designated defensive lineman Armon Watts (shoulder) to return from IR.
