Dante Moore ushers in new era at QB

The offseason has officially arrived in Eugene, and while frustration from a promising 2024 season that fell short will remain for the next several months, it is once again time for Oregon Ducks fans to look forward and prepare for a new year.

The year they are preparing for brings a lot of intrigue and hope with high expectations once again residing in Eugene as Dan Lanning prepares for his fourth year leading the program.

Some major figures are leaving, with players like Dillon Gabriel, Tez Johnson, Jordan Burch, and Jeffrey Bassa heading off to the NFL. But some of Oregon’s young and promising stars are getting ready to take the reigns and lead the program to new heights.

To help set the stage for the new year and preview what is to come for the Ducks, we are going to dive into each position group and highlight who is leaving, who is returning, and who is arriving. Let’s start on offense with the quarterbacks.

The Oregon Ducks have had great success at the quarterback position over the past couple of years, sending Heisman Trophy finalists to New York in both 2023 and 2024. Before that, elite quarterback play has been seen in Eugene for decades, with players like Bill Musgrave, Joey Harrington, Marcus Mariota, Justin Herbert, and Bo Nix, among others, leading the team to great success. Dillon Gabriel was the last guy to do so, securing the second undefeated season in program history, and making a major impact in his one year with the program.

Now he leaves, though, and a new era is being ushered in, with expectations that sophomore Dante Moore will be leading the way.
