Bill Belichick, UNC football finalize contract

The ink is officially dry on Bill Belichick’s contract with the University of North Carolina.

North Carolina and Belichick finalized the employment agreement, just a day after he signed the contract. Belichick was operating under a non-binding term proposal agreement for six weeks.

The contract is backdated to December 12th, the day Belichick was hired to run the program. But the signature on the contract from Belichick is for January 22nd per Inside Carolina.

The site also mentions the details on Belichick’s official deal which is  is worth $50 million over five years ($1 million base salary and $9 million in supplemental income), with the first three years guaranteed. It also has a look at the incentives which are very interesting:

The bonus structure of Belichick’s contract is extensive, allowing for up to $3.5 million in bonus payouts each year. An eight-win season earns a $150,000 bonus, while a 12-win season increases that total to $350,000. An ACC Championship Game appearance is valued at $200,000 and a conference title is worth $300,000. A College Football Playoff berth is worth $750,000 in bonus money, while a national championship is valued at $1.75 million in bonuses.

Final CFP poll finishes also carry different tiers of bonus payout, ranging from $250,000 for a top-25 finish to $500,000 for a top-5 finish.

Belichick has been working hard on the recruiting trail building his roster through the transfer portal as well as the 2026 recruiting class. He’s already made a big impact there, adding key players.

And there will be more to come.

The contract being signed also puts the NFL rumors to bed as Belichick is committed to the program.
