Bears request interview with Israel Woolfork for vacant OC job

Arizona Cardinals were down a pair of coaches to start OTAs

One of the coaches on the Arizona Cardinals’ staff is under consideration for an offensive coordinator job with another team. According to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, the Chicago Bears have requested an interview with Cardinals quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork for their offensive coordinator vacancy.

The Bears named former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson their new head coach.

Woolfork has been the Cardinals’ quarterbacks coach the last two seasons. They previous two years, he worked with the Cardinals offensive coordinator, Drew Petzing, on the Cleveland Browns’ staff under Kevin Stefanski. He was on the offensive staff under a pair of coaching fellowships.

Petzing actually interviewed for the job that Johnson got.

Woolfork is considered a bit of an up-and-coming coach in the league. His work with Kyler Murray the last two seasons makes him an intriguing choice for the Bears, as they have Caleb Williams, coming off his rookie season as the No. 1 pick in last year’s draft.

It is a development we will pay attention to.
