David Nwaogwugwu is in the transfer portal

Rutgers football head coach Greg Schiano hosted Caleb Brewer this past weekend.

Another offensive player hit the transfer portal from Rutgers, with tackle David Nwaogwugwu making the announcement on Friday that he is leaving the program.

Nwaogwugwu transferred into Rutgers following the 2020 season where he was at Temple. In 2021, he made five appearances for Rutgers, including in the Gator Bowl against Wake Forest. Last season, Nwaogwugwu played in three games for Rutgers.

Coming out of Dewitt Clinton High School (Bronx, N.Y.), Nwaogwugwu was a three-star recruit and the No. 17 player in New York in the class of 2018. He played both defensive end and offensive line in high school.

He is a 6-foot-5, 305-pound prospect who is able to play either tackle or guard.

His post on social media included his appreciation for his time at Rutgers:

“I have become a better person and player, for that I am grateful. With that being said, I’m excited for my next opportunity to work hard, achieve my goals and help my new program.”
