Game Day: No. 10/8 Football Hosts Kent State on Military Appreciation Day – Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 10/8 Penn State Football hosts Kent State in Beaver Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. for Military Appreciation Day. The contest will air on BTN with Jeff Levering (play-by-play), Jake Butt (analyst) and Brooke Fletcher (sideline) on the call. Saturday’s game is presented by Penn State World Campus.

Fans are encouraged to visitΒ Game Day Central for all information as it relates to Penn State Football game day traffic, parking and information on the match up. Real time traffic, parking and gate information will be shared on the Beaver Stadium X (formerly Twitter) account (@beaver_stadium).

Beaver Stadium’s family-friendly entrance, located at the ADA entrance, will open 2.5 hours before kickoff at 1 p.m., while the rest of the gates will open at 1:30 p.m. Fans are strongly encouraged to arrive early to ease the entry process.

Annual Military Appreciation Game

  • All Millitary Appreciation activities on Saturday are presented by SRS Distribution.
  • This year’s military appreciation theme honors those who were Prisoners of War, and remembers those who are still Missing in Action. Friday, Sept. 20 is national POW/MIA Remembrance Day.
  • Following the National Anthem, there with be a flyover of four T-38s.
  • Redshirt senior defensive tackle Hakeem Beamon will lead the team out of the tunnel carrying the American flag and present it to his mother, Felecia, who served in the Army as a signal officer, where she worked with a variety of telecommunications equipment including radios, antennas, satellite and network switches. She ended her career assigned to Bravo Company 121 Signal Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, as a Small Extension Node Site Chief.

On-Field Pregame Show Begins at 3:10 p.m.

  • Fans are asked to arrive for the start of the on-field pregame show beginning at 3:10 p.m.
  • The show features the Penn State Traditions video, the Penn State Blue Band, cheerleaders, Lionettes and The Nittany Lion.

Team Arrival and Beaver Stadium Block Party

  • The Beaver Stadium Block Party, taking place on Curtin Road between University Drive and Porter Road, begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
  • Fans can expect food, football and fun each week with different activities along Curtin Road such as live music, inflatable games, fan photobooths, food trucks, caricature artists and more.
  • Velveeta will perform live on the Block Party stage from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
