Wisconsin Athletics is Going the Extra Yard for Educators

MADISON, Wis. – The journey of every student-athlete is shaped by the support of their community long before they ever step onto a college campus. For Wisconsin football’s senior wide receiver, Haakon Anderson, one educator in particular played an instrumental role in that journey. Anderson seized the opportunity to give back to someone who helped him achieve his dreams.

In partnership with the College Football Playoff Foundation, Anderson surprised his former sixth-grade social studies teacher, Mr. Noah Weibel, with a heartfelt gesture on Friday. Joined by the UW Spirit Squad, Anderson presented a donation to support Mr. Weibel’s classroom, providing essential resources to inspire future generations of students. This meaningful contribution was part of the Extra Yard for Teachers Week, a national initiative that uplifts and supports educators who have made lasting impacts on their students.

The College Football Playoff Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers campaign seeks to elevate the teaching profession by empowering educators, ensuring they have the tools and support necessary to help students achieve their full potential – just as Mr. Weibel has done for Anderson.
