DC Defenders Sign Guard Jason Poe, Tight End Mason Fairchild

XFL ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE PARTNERSHIP WITH NFL ALUMNI ACADEMY

The DC Defenders have added two more to their 2025 training camp roster ahead of the New Year, bringing in offensive lineman Jason Poe (Mercer) and tight end Mason Fairchild (Kansas), per Michael Del Negro (UFL Analyst).

Jason Poe

Poe’s college career began at Hutchinson CC (where he played fullback), before transferring to D-II program Lenoir-Rhyne where he later converted to an offensive lineman. After two seasons at Lenoir-Rhyne, Poe transferred to Mercer for his final season where he earned All-Conference honors in 2021. Poe, standing 6’1 300 lbs., emerged on NFL team’s radars in a game against Alabama where he showed off his agility and legit pulling ability.

Poe was signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an UDFA following the 2022 NFL Draft. Poe later earned a spot on the team’s practice squad after impressing throughout training camp, where he remained the entire 2022 season. Poe was waived the following summer by San Francisco and bounced around with the New York Jets before most recently being released by Philadelphia before the 2024 NFL season.

There are big shoes to fill currently with former Defenders OG Liam Fornadel signed to the New England Patriots practice squad. Lingering inconsistencies from last season’s unit for DC will open up chances for incoming offensive linemen.

Mason Fairchild

Mason Fairchild enters the UFL landscape not even a year removed from entering the 2024 NFL Draft out of Kansas.

Fairchild, 6’4 260 lbs., signed with the Saints as an UDFA after posting impressive numbers for the Jayhawks, finishing his career with 82 receptions for 1,111 receiving yards and ten touchdowns.
