CU Buffs offer local tight end Andrew Metzger

I’ve always been of the mindset that recruiting well in your own state is critical to building a program. Nothing is more embarrassing than a Colorado product signing with an out-of-state school and later coming back to beat the Buffs. The great Bill McCartney recruited the area well, and it now seems Karl Dorrell is beginning to appreciate the same method.

About an hour from Boulder is Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, where class of 2023 tight end/defensive lineman Andrew Metzger attends. After being named a first-team all-conference player this fall, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Metzger received a rush of offers, including one from Colorado on Tuesday. He has also been offered by Miami (OH), Nevada, Eastern Michigan, Kansas and Ohio all within the past two months.

Metzger visited CU on Tuesday soon before an offer was extended later that day. Here’s what he told Adam Munsterteiger of BuffStampede following his visit:
