Pete Carroll said Kaepernick called about Seahawks tryout

Pete Carroll is ready for Colin Kaepernick to get a second chance in the NFL.

Yet despite his own quarterback needs, Carroll just isn’t sure if that’s with the Seattle Seahawks.

Carroll said Wednesday that Kaepernick contacted him recently and asked for a chance to try out for the team. Though Carroll said he thinks Kaepernick deserves a second chance, he doesn’t “know if it’s here” in Seattle.

Kaepernick hasn’t played in the league since 2016, when he first started kneeling during the national anthem to protest social justice issues in the United States while he was on the San Francisco 49ers. That protest, which is now common and accepted across sports, drew intense backlash — including from then-President Donald Trump.
