Justin Simmons impressed by cornerback K’Waun Williams

In an offseason of changes for the Denver Broncos, the cornerback position is not exempt, with newly-signed K’Waun Williams joining the team on a one-year deal to replace the still-unsigned CB Bryce Callahan.

Specifically, Williams is taking over for Callahan in the slot. And that transition began Monday with the start of voluntary minicamp. Less than a week in, Williams is drawing praise from teammates, specifically defensive leader Justin Simmons.

Speaking to the media Wednesday, Simmons gives a detailed analysis of what he sees in Williams, saying, “If you watch his film with San Fran over the last few years, he did an unbelievable job for them at nickel. He’s a turnover machine. He does a really good job in those zone coverages of reading route combinations and knowing where he should be.”

Strong praise from the team’s top defensive weapon is nothing to slouch at – even in April. Denver also inked cornerback Blessuan Austin to a one-year deal hours before the draft as well, improving the secondary’s depth even more.
