Going into the 2022 football season, LSU Wire will be looking at each player listed on the Tigers’ roster.
Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Brian Kelly this season.
We continue to examine the walk-ons in the middle of the roster numerically, and now we’re looking at a California native in RJ Willis who redshirted during his true freshman season and will provide reserve depth for LSU in the secondary at cornerback this fall. However, a high number of transfer portal additions will make finding the field a challenge.

Depth Chart Overview
Willis mostly played receiver at Centennial High School in Riverside, California, but he moved to the secondary upon arriving at LSU as a walk-on last fall.
He didn’t appear in a game and redshirted during his true freshman season, and he may not see the field much this fall either with a number of players ahead of him on the depth chart. However, as with the rest of the walk-ons, he’ll hope to carve out a role on special teams this season while potentially also seeing reserve reps on defense.
