It’s the life third-year WR Jerry Jeudy has in his future. After a promising rookie season, his train was derailed in his second season.
Jeudy missed seven games due to injury and COVID-19. After totaling 52 receptions on 113 targets for 856 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie, the receiver totaled 38 receptions on 56 targets for 467 scoreless yards.
What was impressive about Jeudy’s rookie season is the instant impact that occurred with second-year QB Drew Lock playing in basically his rookie season. When the Broncos acquired Teddy Bridgewater, many fantasy analysts touted Jeudy as a breakout candidate in Year 2. Wish fantasy football could be played with injuries off.
Well, next season is no different for Jeudy. Except enter Russell Wilson at QB. Not hard to see why the receiver is a hot topic. The league’s official website is in on the hoopla as well. NFL.com’s Kevin Patra pegs the Wilson-Jeudy duo as the second-best new QB-WR duo heading into next season.
“I expect Jeudy to be a deep-threat option after starting his career with Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock as his signal-callers,” Patra wrote on NFL.com. “Of Jeudy ‘s 169 career targets, 31 have been deep passes (20-plus yards). Wilson has the most pass yards (6,347) and pass TDs (65) on deep passes in the Next Gen Stats era (since 2016), and the QB’s 9.5% completion percentage over expected on deep passes is the best in the NFL in that span (min. 200 attempts).”
