Ranking Michigan football 2022 games by difficulty

Michigan has high expectations going into 2022, and while pundits do have the Wolverines near the top of the preseason polls and estimations, there’s something of a disconnect when it comes to where the maize and blue will finish.

Make no mistake: the 2022 schedule is incredibly advantageous for a team that’s looking to rebuild on defense will maintaining continuity on offense.

We all know that the last game of the regular season poses a challenge, but what about home games against Penn State and Michigan State, as well as the road trip to Iowa in Week 5? We considered all of the preseason storylines and ranked each game in 2022 based off of how difficult it will be to win each, starting with the easiest up to the hardest.

UConn

There’s not much to say about this one. Michigan is expected to be one of the best teams in the nation, while UConn was the worst. With Jim Mora taking over the reins, it’s a program that could improve quickly, but likely will be the easiest game on the schedule for the Wolverines.

CSU is another team that will be severely overmatched, but it perhaps has the benefit of having an element of surprise, with it being the first game of the season. Still, it seems unlikely that an upset will occur.

Hawaii

A sheer stroke of luck for the Rainbow Warriors saw this game slated for a night kickoff, meaning it won’t be at some otherworldly time for a team coming from six hours away. Still, Hawaii will be severely overmatched in this one, and it’s hard to envision it being a game.
