Berman and Team USA wins gold, Burkhalter reports

It was a busy another busy weekend for Auburn athletics.

With SEC Media Days complete “Talking Season” is officially underway and the start of the college football season is rapidly approaching. However, Auburn bills itself as an “Everything School” and that was true this weekend. Lior Berman helped Team USA win a gold medal, Blake Burkhalter took the first step of his professional career, and Bryan Harsin announced the Iron Men of the Week for the football program.

Lior Berman and Team USA win gold at Maccadi Games

Berman helped the Maccabee USA Open Men’s Basketball team defeat France 81-70 to win the gold medal at the 2022 World Maccabi Games Sunday.

Berman finished with 11 points, four rebounds, and three steals to win his second gold medal. He won gold as a member of the USA U16 squad in the 2017 Maccabi Games.

The rising senior guard started five of the six games as Team USA won their fourth-straight gold medal.

Burkhalter departs for Florida

Burkhalter departed for the Atlanta Braves training facility in North Port, Florida as he starts his professional career, according to The Dothan Eagle.

He will go through evaluations at the facility before being assigned to a minor league team. He was drafted with the 76th overall pick in the draft and signed a contract worth $647,000.

Due to his experience he has the potential to quickly move through the minor leagues as a reliever.
