Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz joins the Big Ten Network to preview 2022

Hawkeyes Wire touched on the over/under win totals and lines for each Big Ten team per Tipico Sportsbook in early July and picked a key date for each league member in order to safely hit the over.

Iowa checks in with a 7.5 wins total, and there’s a number of dates coming down the home stretch that bettors could look at as potential swing dates en route to the Hawkeyes safely hitting their over wins total or not.

Can Iowa make small margins work?

“There is such an incredibly consistent, high floor proposition with the Hawkeyes where, you know, coming off a Big Ten West division title, you’re looking at Iowa and you’re thinking like, ‘Okay, this is a team that I think can compete once again to be the best team in the Big Ten West.’ But, we’re sitting here with a win total of 7.5 because there are very, very small margins. Iowa wins with small margins. They’re very good at winning with small margins. Can they end up on the right side of those bounces again? Where are we at with the Hawkeyes?” Chip Patterson asked his podcast partners.

It’s a ‘dead on’ number

“I think this is a very good number. Now, this came out 6.5 about three months ago and I think over 6.5 was not a terrible play. I have some concerns, mainly nepotism related that Ferentz kept his son to coach the offense and moved him in to be the offensive coordinator, because I really have not seen any true signs of progress there at Iowa offensively. But, narrative aside, there is some chance that they could improve offensively.
