Frost talks to Irish media leading up to Dublin

What to know about the Husker’s opener in Dublin

Nebraska Football Coach Scott Frost spoke with the Irish media on Wednesday afternoon in preparation for the Cornhusker’s season opener against Northwestern. During their chat, Frost discussed the logistics of playing a game in Ireland, how the Irish will react to Husker fans and what it means to start the season with a conference game.

Nebraska is making the trip in 2022 after their 2021 game against Illinois was canceled and moved to Champaign. So now Nebraska will play the Wildcats in the seventh college football game to be played in Ireland and the third to be played at Aviva Stadium. This will not be the first time Nebraska has played overseas, though, as the Cornhuskers last played outside the United States in 1992. That year Tom Osborne took the No. 11 Huskers and played a Big Eight matchup against the Kansas State Wildcats in the Coca-Cola Classic. Nebraska would win the game 38-24.

In comments to the Irish Examiner, Frost also shared details about the Husker’s arrangements once they arrive in the Irish capital. Nebraska will head across the Atlantic on Monday, August 22, at 10:00 am. And once they arrive, the team will not be staying in Dublin but will instead be holding camp set up out of Powerscourt in Enniskerry, Wicklow, for the duration of their stay.
