Three Cougars Named to Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List

MOBILE, Ala. (August 24, 2022) – Washington State linebacker Daiyan Henley, EDGE Brennan Jackson and running back Nakia Watson were each named to the 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List, the organization announced Wednesday.

The Reese’s Senior Bowl is widely regarded as the preeminent college football all-star game and the first stage in the NFL Draft process. The longest continual-running all-star game has taken place in Mobile, Alabama the past 73 years.  More than 900 NFL personnel, including key decision-makers from all 32 teams, and over 900 media members from around the country were credentialed last year. This past April, the game produced a record-tying 106 total picks for the second straight year, representing 40 percent of the entire NFL draft, including 45 of the top 100 players selected.

WSU offensive lineman Abraham Lucas and cornerback Jaylen Watson were both selected to the Reese’s Senior Bowl last season.

Henley, a Butkus Award Watch List selection, is set to begin his first season at Washington State after transferring from Nevada where he earned All-Mountain West Conference second-team honors last season. The Los Angeles native led the Wolfpack with 103 tackles including three for loss with four interceptions, three fumble recoveries, four pass breakups and five double-digit tackle efforts.

Jackson earned All-Pac-12 Conference honorable mention last season after making 46 tackles with six tackles-for-loss including four sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. The Temecula, Calif. native earned a pair of Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week awards (at Cal, Stanford) and was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team.

Watson appeared in all 13 games last season, his first with the Cougars after playing two seasons at Wisconsin. Last season for WSU, the Austin, Texas native recorded 36 carries including a season-high 17 for 62 yards against Central Michigan in the Sun Bowl. For Wisconsin in 2020, Watson rushed 53 times for 191 yards and three touchdowns including a pair of rushing scores in a win at Michigan and rushed for a pair of scores as a redshirt-freshman in 2019.
