Texas A&M’s season is predicted in ESPN’s “Predicting every college football Power 5 conference for the 2022 season”

Class is in session at Texas A&M, as the 2022 football season nears

As Week 0 of the 2022 college football season is officially underway, media outlets are putting their finishing touches on their final preseason pieces, reaching the prediction stage on how they feel the season will shake out, and what programs will come out on top at the very end.

On Friday, ESPN Senior Writer Mark Schlabach authored an article for the site titled “Predicting every college football Power 5 conference for the 2022 season” where he did just that, and right off the bat coming as no surprise to college football fans everywhere, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Clemson came out on top in the respected conferences once again.

For the Aggies, one week remains before they kick off their season against Sam Houston State on Sept. 3rd, and with the quarterback competition between Haynes King, Max Johnson, and Conner Weigman still ongoing, predicting the season as a whole is still a somewhat difficult task at the moment. Nevertheless, confidence is high, and the roster is as deep and talented as it’s been in years, as head coach Jimbo Fisher’s 5th season with the program is poised to be one of his best yet.

Here are Mark Schlabach’s predictions for Texas A&M for their 2022 season:

SEC West Finish: Texas A&M, 9-3, (5-3)
Freshman of the year: Walter Nolan, Defensive line, Texas A&M
Conference game of the year: Texas A&M at Alabama
Upset of the year: Ole Miss over Texas A&M, Oct. 29
Schlabach’s matchup prediction: “Alabama blasts Texas A&M”

The Aggies’ trip to Tuscaloosa on Oct. 8 will be the most anticipated game of the season. Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher caused a firestorm during the offseason when he ripped his mentor, Saban, for suggesting that the Aggies’ No. 1-ranked recruit class was the result of boatloads of NIL cash. The former friends will hug it out at midfield before the game, before Saban fails to take his foot off the gas in a 42-17 victory that will remind Fisher who is still the boss.

Well, all is fair in…
